A Thing of Beauty

Entry 655, on 2007-12-08 at 21:58:44 (Rating 1, Computers)

My old 3rd generation iPod finally died on me yesterday so I decided it was time for an upgrade. The iPod Touch is very nice but its also expensive and really just an iPhone without the phone. The iPhone is also a great product but because its doesn't use the third generation network its actually less functional in some ways than my present Sony cell phone.

So I decided to wait for the next generation iPhone and buy an iPod Nano instead. I'm really pleased I did. The Nano is so small and looks much better in real life than in the photos, and the screen is great for watching movies. It really is a beautiful device.

The 8G capacity is less than my previous iPod (15G) but I just have to more carefully manage the media, especially because I now have photos and videos as well as music, podcasts, and calendar and contact information. But I always have my laptop with me so I can swap movies any time I want to, and I am already watching movies I have had sitting around for months on DVD and on my computer.

Apple seem to be better than anyone else when it comes to making elegant, well designed products and the Nano is no exception - it truly is a thing of beauty!
