Maori Party Racist Debate

Entry 148, on 2022-10-06 at 13:03:27

This debate concerned some extremist nonsense from the Maori Party, which "...has been engaging in racial discrimination on its website with claims of genetic superiority, but when notified, New Zealand's Race Relations Commissioner Meng Foon refused to publicly stand up to it".

Me The race relations commissioner isn't there to make race relations better; he's there to advance leftist political racist dogma. Never likely to do anything useful.

The race relations commissioner is a bit of a joke. You would expect that he might have some semblance of neutrality, but there's not really even an attempt at that, making many of his actions look more racist than the people he is trying to berate.

Supporter There's nothing leftist about it, this racial supremacy they are pushing is extreme far right nazism.

Open claims of superiority of one race over another is reminiscent of Naziism, but I usually avoid the comparison my supporter made here.

Me The attitudes he favours are generally associated with the (modern) left, I think.

Opponent Just it you don't think :)

Few people would deny that critical theory and identity politics are almost the exclusive tools of the left, so I can't see much justification for this.

Me Well actually, I do. Just because you disagree with me doesn't mean I haven't carefully considered this issue. If you want to disagree some facts might be more effective than inane opinions and insults. Just sayin'

Opponent You're racist [laugh]

And there we have it. Three comments before this nonsense appears. To these clowns, racist equates to someone who has a better argument than them. It really is pathetic.

Me Can you justify that claim? How am I racist for criticising a public figure?

Opponent Honour the Treaty.

Me It's just a document which should not be automatically honoured. The problem is the Treaty is being reinterpreted to mean whatever suits a political agenda, so I don't currently honour it. Is disputing the meaning of a document racist?

Opponent Then u don't belong here :)

Me Well thanks for your opinion. I hope you won't be too offended if I disagree.

Opponent Your [sic] so right about interpreting the treaty to a political agenda , , , it's always been interpreted by white privileged policies , , in for a wake up call very soon and not by Aotearoa NZs policy makers , , , see you at the protest :)

And he degenerates into semi-literate nonsense, idle threats, and random punctuation. Fairly typical!

Me Which protest would that be?

Opponent Ur opinion Honour the treaty [finger] :)

Me Well this is going nowhere. Let me know if you have anything useful to contribute.

Opponent Have an awesome day kiwi from iwi [random emoji]

Opponent He's there to keep so called far righteous white privileged NZers causing division thru far right policies: truth :)

Me I'm pretty sure that isn't in his job description. Maybe you should check before making claims like that.

Opponent Treaty claims :) [finger]

Me Do you ever discuss the actual topic or just throw around meaningless catchphrases? I will respond if you make any useful comments, otherwise I'll just leave it there. Thanks for the discussion.

Opponent [heart] 'mAloha [heart] [hand]

Sometimes people get so incoherent that it's difficult to respond in any meaningful way, and that's what happened here. I guess he walked away from this thinking he won the debate!
