Transit 2004, 17

We had originally intended to take the Mereenie Loop Road past Gosse Bluff and up to our next accomodation at Glen Helen. Unfortunately the road is just red dirt and was impassable because of all the rain, even for four wheel drives.

As an alternative, we left Kings Creek and drove down the Luritja Road back to the Lasseter Highway and out to the Stuart Highway (the main road from Adelaide to Alice to Darwin). On the way to Alice Springs we turned off into another dirt road to the Henbury Meteor craters. The photo shows one of the old craters, now eroded and overgrown.
