The Flight North

Next   Previous   Discuss   (Up)

The flight north happened in three stages: first, we flew to Christchurch in an ATR-72, we then boarded a 737 to fly to Auckland, then a smaller Saab 340 for the final flight into Kerikeri airport. This photo shows Lake Ellesmere, a prominent landmark just south of Christchurch. A possible sighting of an iceberg off the Canterbury coast was inconclusive because of distance and a scratchy aircraft window I took the photo from!

From an artistic and technical perspective this is one of my favourite photos from this trip, and I use a bigger version as the "wallpaper" or desktop picture on my laptop.
