Kaikoura Coast Tussock

The Kaikoura coast provides a cool break from the heat of inland Marlborough to the north and Canterbury to the south when travelling between Christchurch and Blenhiem. A windy road, with a few tunnels scattered around, clings to the side of the hills within meters of the surf of the Pacific ocean. The township of Kaikoura itself provides some well known activities such as whale watching

Texture provides the interest in this picture. A low viewing angle and extreme depth of field means the sand, tussock, mountains and sky provide four different textures from the foreground to the sky. Again, some cloud softened the light and ensured colors weren't overwhelmed with too much light.
