Olympics

Entry 48, on 2004-09-01 at 11:31:00 (Rating 1, Comments)

Well the Olympics are over and most of the NZ team arrived home today to the inevitable analysis of what went well and what didn't. The overall feeling is pretty positive. Only 5 medals but 3 gold and 2 silver for a country of this size is good.

Its unfortunate that the Olympics have been hijacked by commercial interests so much but despite this I still think it is a very positive international event.

I even enjoyed watching a few sports I wouldn't have otherwise: for example handball is quite a good spectator sport. And synchronised swimming is surprisingly cool to watch. And even rhythmic gymnastics - amazing!
