Quickly Create a File in Terminal

Run Terminal (from the Utilities folder, in the Applications folder).
Type cat > NEWFILENAME and press return.
Note 1: Instead of NEWFILENAME enter the name of the file you want to create.
Note 2: Add suffix ".txt" to the end of the file name to make it easy to open in Mac OS.
Type the text you want in the file, press return between lines.
Type control D to complete the file.
