Boot Into Safe Mode

Boot Into Safe Mode on Intel CPU Macs

Restart the Mac while holding dow the shift key.

When the login window appears, release the shift key.

Log in normally. There should be a "safe boot notification" visible in the upper-right corner.

Steps to Boot Into Safe Mode on Apple Silicon Macs

Shut down the computer.

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, and wait while the machine restarts.

Continue to hold the button until you see startup options screen.

Choose the startup disk, hold shift, and select "Continue in Safe Mode".

Log in normally.
