As you can see, there were hundreds of people entered in the full marathon, half marathon, and half marathon walk. In case you don't know, a full marathon is 42 km, so a half is 21.

The traditional origin of the marathon comes from a story of a herald named Phidippides who ran the 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce a Greek victory, then died on the spot.
