Waihola Sunrise

Mist clings to the ground on a cool winter morning near Lake Waihola, a small lake half an hour south of Dunedin which is commonly used for boating and other aquatic activities.

Getting the exposure right in a photo which includes both deep shadow and the Sun is challenging but this one gets it perfect. The sky is exposed properly to get the colors right, the foreground isnt quite full shadow - there's still some detail there. The mist creates a surreal effect blurring the elements of the scene into one.
