Frost Near Alexandra

Central Otago has the most extreme climate in New Zealand. In summer it records the highest temperatures in the country (occasionally in the mid 30s) but in winter the temperature can stay below zero for many days on end. This photo was taken during one winter trip to Wanaka for ski-ing. The location is on the road between Roxburgh and Alexandra where the forsty landscape is most spectacular.
