Museum: Velociraptor mongoliensis

Another picture from the Chinese Dinosaurs exhibition. This is a photo of a model of a type of velociraptor, made famous by the Jurrasic Park movie. Unfortunately the portrayal in the movie wasn't accurate. They were certainly a vicious carnivore, but only about a quarter the size of what the movie showed.

Pronounced: vel-oss-see-RAP-tor mon-gol-ee-en-sis
Diet: carnivore (small dinosaurs)
Era: Late Cretacious, 75 million years ago
Height: 1 meter
Features: large brain, agile body, dagger-like teeth and claws
